Ohev Yisrael has served the Washington, DC metropolitan area since 1980.  Our name is translated as “God as the one who loves Israel so much, that he sent Yeshua the Messiah to die on behalf of her sins, and for the sins of the whole world.” Our members come from diverse backgrounds to serve one another, pray for America and Israel, serve the Messianic Jewish community and fulfill the words of Ephesians 3:6 of Jews and Gentiles being members of one body.

We believe that, Yeshua (Jesus the Messiah) died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. We worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in a style reflective of first century synagogues where followers of Yeshua from both Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds assembled. Our worship and observances seek to fulfill Yeshua’s words for true worshipers, in spirit and in truth.

Our mission is to be a Jewish community of Jews and Gentiles growing in discipleship, relationship and sharing Yeshua with the Jewish people.

BELIEF STATEMENTS

WORSHIP
To worship and serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through Yeshua by the power of the Holy Spirit.

PROCLAIM
To boldly proclaim Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah of Israel and Ruler of the whole earth as those who have experienced his love, forgiveness, and healing.

FELLOWSHIP
To provide occasions for fellowship and an environment where believers in Messiah Yeshua can express their faith, love one another, and live a life in accordance with the Holy Scriptures.

GROWTH
To foster the spiritual growth of those who have received Yeshua into their hearts, to develop covenant relationships between our members, and equip each member with the strengthening gifts that the Spirit has given for the work of the Kingdom.

LEARNING
To provide the spiritual education for both children and adults in a manner that is consistent with, and in fulfillment of, the Holy Scriptures.

AMERICA
To promote the general welfare of the United States of America, its Constitution and its people, through a legal and proper application of biblical truth.

ISRAEL
To uphold the nation of Israel and its importance to the Body of Messiah and the world in fulfillment of God’s promises and biblical prophecy.

JEWISH IDENTITY
To empower and educate Jews to live a Yeshua-centered Jewish life—fully Jewish and fully Messianic, including identifying with the larger Jewish community yet understanding that we have the fulfillment of what it is to be Jewish; that fulfillment is Yeshua.

GENTILES/NATIONS
To welcome those from the nations who have a recognizable calling to identify with the Messianic Jewish community for the salvation of Israel and for worshipping God (through Yeshua) in a Jewish cultural context.

CALLING
To equip both Jews and Gentiles for the work of God’s Kingdom.  While Jews and Gentiles are one in Messiah, they have specific callings that complement each other in blessing Israel and the nations.

BODY OF BELIEVERS IN YESHUA
To advocate reconciliation and unity among Jews and Gentiles within the Body of Messiah.
