About

History
Founded in 1980, Ohev Yisrael (pronunced: oh-hev yis-r’eye-el and translated as “lover of Israel” referring to Yeshua as the one who loves Israel) is a Messianic Jewish Congregation located in Newington, VA. We are comprised of members primarily from Washington, DC metropolitan area (VA, MD, and DC).

Vision
Ohev Yisrael is a Messianic Jewish Congregation that seeks to provide a congregational home for Jewish believers in Yeshua (Jesus Christ) and for believing Gentiles called to serve Yeshua within the Messianic Jewish Community.

What we believe
We believe that, according to the Tanakh and the Brit Chadesha (New Covenant), Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah) died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

We worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in a style reflective of first century synagogues where followers of Yeshua from both Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds assembled in unity.

Our worship and observances seek to fulfill Yeshua’s words for true worshippers, blending together the Torah (The Word of God) and Ruach Hakodesh (Holy Spirit).
